Maine Family Photographer | South Berwick Hamilton House
“Our family is a circle of strength of love with every birth and every union the circle grows.” -unknown
Family documentary is sacred. As a photographer in the Seacoast area (and lover of outdoor photography), I truly get the best of so many worlds. Here in Southern Maine we have the Atlantic ocean, tons of inland lakes and rivers, the White Mountains and tons of local nature trails. Since my family photography style is primarily documentary, it’s great to see children enjoying themselves outdoors. Any natural poses are of course done as soon as possible, because kids are natural explorers and often get dirty fast. My goal for so many families is to capture your entire (yes, I’m talking to you, Mom!) crew in front of the camera.
So on this particular venture, The K family were expecting their third child. I have been so fortunate to photograph Mom in all three of her pregnancies. Little secret: they’re my cousins. Dad and I were born four days apart and went to school together… he was one of my best friends and spent countless hours playing Memory and CandyLand with him. We’d get in trouble in class and rocked school field trips. We had the greatest childhood a kid could ever ask for. For sessions, we’ve hit the beach, in-home and now the grounds of the beautiful Hamilton House. The HH is a historic landmark resting on the Salmon Falls River in South Berwick, ME. It is near Vaughan Woods, which has some great trails following the river and is kid/pet friendly. The Hamilton is also home to a beautiful botanical garden and they also offer tours inside the home. In the summer, they offer their grounds as a venue to weddings as well (if you or someone you know is looking for a Maine wedding photographer, contact me!). Anyway, so these kiddos were super cooperative and I got so so lucky with a well mixed variety of posed and candid images for this family.
Here’s a sampling of my favs from the session.
