Clay Hill Farm & St Christophers Church Wedding | York, Maine Wedding Photographer
A Quiet, Romantic Wedding Escape in the Heart of York Maine
We had gorgeous fall New England weather for this intimate catholic ceremony. St. Christophers Church is nestled in the heart of historic York, Maine (home to Nubble Lighthouse) which was where these two confirmed their love and devotion to each other for the rest of all eternity. Le sigh. We followed up with outdoor portraits on Mount Agamenticus and then dinner at the renowned Clay Hill Farm. Their wedding actually took back in the fall of 2013. Just recently, they introduced to the world their new son and I am busting at the seams with joy for them! So grows another branch within a deeply rooted family tree…
Dan and Lexi had a quiet and small ceremony; they actually flew in from Chicago to marry here. A casual dinner would be waiting for them at the beautiful Clay Hill Farm in Cape Neddick, Maine but we had a little bit of time to enjoy the scenic coast in its peak foliage glory before then. Dan and Lexi were amazing and welcomed the idea of formal portraits atop the summit of Mount Agamenticus with open arms, which lies near both the coastal church and quaint farm just off Route 1. As a Maine wedding photographer who is super duper enthusiastic about including the scenic landscape of coastal and northern New England, I was delighted. We were able to capture just the two of them… in this place… in this moment.
As earlier stated, we concluded their celebration at the exquisite Clay Hill Farm Restaurant. Clay Hill Farm is hidden off of Route 1 and is a great escape away from the busy Ogunquit or York dinner scene. Why I love Clay Hill Farm so much is that they are avid conservationists who maintain a bird sanctuary and wildlife refuge on their 11-acre farm. Be still my environmentally-conscientious heart! Another reason I love them so much is their hospitality – their courteousness and careful attention to detail is second to none.
I dug out this archive for a few reasons. First, it’s one of my favorites. It was one of my first opportunities to photograph Maine’s beautiful backdrop with a wedding couple. We invested in each other and that, my friends, is just a beautiful thing. Second, I am adding a few new products to my line (which I’m super stoked about) and one of the images of Lexi is perfect for a particular sample. Third, my business sprouted so quickly that many of my earlier works never made it to my online journal. So folks, if you’d like to stay near, I plan to roll out of few of my older assignments and rekindle the very root of what kept this dream’s heart beating. Fourth, I – we – could never grow if we didn’t review our own work from time to time. It’s amazing looking back to see how far we’ve come on each of our journeys. Experience takes time, dedication and learning. I am so excited to be using one of my first weddings ever in one of my new products. It will be a tribute to both the journey that I have ventured, and the reassurance that I did indeed have the potential from the very beginning.
