30 Day Blog Challenge, Day 6: Black Beauty
For those of you who know me, you know how much I love motor muscle.
The first set of wheels I bought was a 1979 Corvette.
350 engine V8, 4 speed, black exterior, tan interior. I still have her.
My brother and I attend Corvettes at Carlisle annually. he owns a ’58 and a ’60. ’58 is my favorite year…first year for the dual headlights look, and the only year for twin chrome strips on the rear decklid. My brother attended Corvettes at Carlisle with my father every year before my dad’s tragic passing. My brother and I carry out the tradition now. We meet up with a crazy bunch of hoodlums known as the Vetteheads, whom were my father’s good friends. We shoot the shit, talk cars and eat and drink merrily. Great times. I have a lot of uncles. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this year as I just had a baby and my life is turned upside down {for the better♥}. My brother has found a replacement for me and will continue the tradition.
I remember our first trip out to Pennsylvania together…my brother filled me in on what to expect.
“You’re gonna shit your pants…you’ve never seen so many vettes in one place at one time in your life!”
He was right.
Not about the shitting my pants part.
For any avid vette lover, this is your paradise. Original, custom, new, old, for sale, complete restoration, beefy, flashy, original parts, fabricated parts, the list goes on with the variety. They always have a ‘burnout’ contest, and the Carlisle Fairgrounds has the BEST ham egg n cheese sandwich known to man. My brother and I will head down each year with a list of parts needed…we’ll talk it over with the experts {our Vetteheads clan} and scout out for the best deal, whether it be for original or new. These guys know their vettes.
This photo was taken my first year at Corvettes at Carlisle in ’08. This is a 1969 Corvette ZL1. Owner had a cam change a year prior to give this beauty a boost of performance. I really admired this C3, it gave me some inspiration as to what I should be doing with my black beauty.
All right, enough about cars already, here’s the photo of the day. Did a bit of post-production work to give this demon an edge.
