30 Day Blog Challenge, Day 5: Morning Dock

Five days into my challenge, and still going strong!  It has been such an inspiration to dig through all my old photos.  Amazing how a simple photo can stir up so many old memories…

So this particular photo was taken back in ’09 on Squam Lake, in New Hampshire.  Funny how calm it was that early morning.  It was a downpour our entire trip that September, except for the last day when we were packing up to head home.  The canoe trip to the island was daunting as we attempted to head offshore against colossal waves.  I was sure we were going to capsize.  But we didn’t, and the middle of the lake proved to be much calmer, as we all sang and shared a bottle of whiskey.

We had just adopted a rescue dog, Jameson, and on the last morning were taking him for a walk before the other campers awoke.  The best time to capture a natural scenery is at dawn or dusk.  This particular morning was perfect timing for a shot, as it was the calm after the rainstorm.  I love this photo because of the dock itself.  It is warped from wear, the poles are uneven and the fall leaves are slightly scattered.

Shot with my trusty Canon Powershot, no post-production on this photo.
