New Hampshire Anniversary Photographer | Family Surprise

blog title

I have a huge family, I can’t say this enough. So naturally, I get a lot of opportunities to photograph small family events. This one was awesome. My aunt and uncle, who helped raise me a good chunk of my childhood years, just recently celebrated a milestone wedding anniversary.  Auntie and Uncle had seven children, who’ve now grown up and gone on to have many of their own darlings. Those first seven children are near and dear to me, as we grew up together.  Oh, and don’t get me started on all my other cousins, who also share a piece of my heart!  There are a lot of us!  But today we are focusing on these guys.

For any of you with a family of this magnitude, you know how hard it is to get everybody in the same place, at the same time, and even harder to nab an updated portrait of all of you together. Enter me. I’m not going to lie, the larger the group, the greater the dynamics, and it’s a real challenge for us photogs; but what would life be without obstacles?  It’s what shapes us into who we are and helps us to grow stronger in our professions, in our lives… but I am a pro so I had this! We enjoyed our family photo session at Golden Meadows in Somersworth, NH. This is a flourishing garden business operated by Tom and Cyndi Cowland. We missed the amazing bloom peak that occurs around July, but with the open field and variety of setups, a passing of the major summer blooms makes no difference on a late summer morning like this day. Another surprise awaited my dear aunt and uncle at Margaritas in Dover, NH. Very close friends and extended family made the trip out to celebrate these two.  Margaritas has a great outdoor patio and a buffet style menu option that is well suited for intimate gatherings such as this one.  What a lucky couple these are, indeed.

At the end of the day, one of the most important things you can thank your Lord for is family. The connection, the support, all the happiness it brings to you. I’ve landed my dream job… I am so close to my own family, and I am reminded of this fortune every time I click that camera when I photograph family events like this… I am blessed, really…

All right, enough talking, let’s peruse through a few highlights of this recent gathering!

somebody misses their mum 🙁
